Understanding Employment Harassment and Harassment Laws in a College Essay

Understanding Employment Harassment and Harassment Laws in a College EssayWhen it comes to workplace harassment or harassment case, what can be more important than how well a writer understands his or her employer's policies and legal obligations? However, when the workplace harassment or harassment takes place in front of the campus dean, it is important that the employer's policies and legal obligations are adhered to. Also, the employer has an obligation to protect its employees from certain illegal activities that occur in the workplace, such as unwanted physical contact, sexual harassment, discriminatory communication, and inappropriate sexual advances. Some employers do not go out of their way to insure that their workplace harassment or harassment laws are respected. For instance, when a male and female student, having been at a business school for a few months, get together to enjoy a night on the town, a male colleague talks to the woman, calling her a 'slut' and telling her that she needs to stay home because he will use the services of a 'pick-up artist' to get her into bed. The man then grabs the woman's arm, pulling her close to him. She resists and tells him that she does not want to have sex with him.In response, the male colleague continues to tell the woman that she needs to stay home, and pulls the woman's arm even closer to him. During this exchange, another male colleague, who is male friends with the first two men, joins them in watching the two women interact, and starts to make comments about the women. How can the writer of a workplace harassment or harassment college essay get around this situation, if it is not addressed? It is important that the writer not only investigate the facts behind the situation, but also follow up with the managers at the business. One thing that a writer should do is to discuss the incident with one of the managers of the establishment, so that the issue will be resolved. Additionally, the writer should make su re that the manager knows that the two other males in the organization are aware of the encounter, and that they were all watching the two women at the same time that the colleague pulled the woman close to him.Even though it may seem obvious, it is important that the writer of the essay clearly state whether or not the confrontation between the woman and the two male colleagues was initiated by the first man or by the second man. It is also important that the writer of the essay state whether or not the manager made any comments regarding the incident. The writer should not make an assumption about why the second man was involved in the harassment or harassment situation. If the second man knew about the first man's actions, then the first man cannot be held responsible for the incident. This will give the writer of the essay the opportunity to make a clear statement as to who was responsible for the incident. However, if the female employee reported the incident to her manager, and the manager did nothing to investigate or handle the situation, then the female employee should note the incident as a complaint of sexual harassment. There are instances when a woman gets harassed by a male colleague while going to the restroom, or in a conversation in which she is carrying on a casual conversation with a friend, at the office. This would be considered to be a workplace occurrence, and would fall under the category of sexual harassment.
